Head coach Luke Williams has challenged Swansea City to build on their notable home victory over Norwich City.

Williams feels Norwich will be one of the clubs challenging at the top end of the Championship this season.

But the Canaries were beaten at the Swansea.com Stadium as Williams’ side showed quality and resilience to hold on for victory after Amankwah Forson’s early own goal.

Asked if the his team’s display has laid the foundations for a consistent run of form, Williams said: “I really hope it does.

“I think you must have been listening outside our dressing room because that’s similar to what I said.

“I have challenged the players. They have started a couple of games this season and I thought they got overwhelmed.

“That’s a bit harsh to hear for professional footballers. They want to come back and tell me where to go, and this is the response I wanted.”

Victory was Swansea’s second in five Championship games in 2024-25 and lifts them into the top half of the early-season table.

Williams’ men are unbeaten in three home league fixtures this term, having also beaten Preston and drawn with Cardiff City.

“Norwich are a top side and if you don’t get to grips with them early, they will take the game away from you,” Williams added.

“There was character out there from a lot of players who don’t have a lot of experience.

“I am really pleased. Seeing the players after the game, destroyed, this was a properly tough game and they earned the points today.”
