The Republic of Ireland are the 2-0 victors against 10-man Portugal during crucial World Cup qualifier.

Troy Parrott gave the home side the lead on 17 minutes when he headed home a corner which had been nodded into his path by Liam Scales.

Chiedozie Ogbene's low effort crashed off the base of the post before Parrott's low strike doubled the Republic of Ireland's lead just before the break.

Things went from bad to worse for Portugal when captain Cristiano Ronaldo was dismissed for an elbow in the back of Dara O'Shea.
