Bristol Rovers have signed goalkeeper Brad Young on a two-year deal following his release by Leicester City.

The 23-year-old has been part of the Foxes' academy since 2021, playing regularly for their Premier League 2 side but never made a first-team appearance.

He joined National League side Hartlepool United on loan last season, playing 10 games and keeping four clean sheets, and also had a spell at Notts County.

"I spoke with the staff and James Bittner [goalkeeping coach]. There's a real project here, something I want to be part of for my development and to go forward over the years in my career," Young said.

Young is the fourth signing in three days at Rovers, following defenders Alfie Kilgour, Macauley Southam-Hales and Jack Sparkes.

"Brad is a young, exciting goalkeeper who has got unbelievable potential," said director of football Ricky Martin.

"That he was picked up by a Premier League club at such a young age shows his talent and high ceiling, and he has only gotten better in his time working with Leicester.

"He is a strong and commanding shot-stopper with a lot of qualities that are suited to being a top modern-day goalkeeper."
