Bristol Rovers bring in Wycombe midfielder Butcher

Matt Butcher won the League One title in 2023 with Plymouth Argyle

Bristol Rovers have signed Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Matt Butcher on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has played 13 times for the Chairboys in League One this season, having joined in the summer of 2023 from Plymouth Argyle.

He helped the Pilgrims win the 2023 League One title and has also had spells at Yeovil Town, Accrington Stanley and St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

"Rovers is a club that I've played against many times in the past," Butcher told the club website.

"I've been down to The Mem and experienced what it can be like, so I'm really looking forward to getting out here on Sunday."

Head coach Inigo Calderon added; "Matt brings strength, precision and technique and has proven his ability in this division and across the EFL.

"Not only does Matt have a physical presence and range in his passing but he has proven himself a versatile player with an eye for goal too. We are looking forward to working with him for the remainder of the season."
