Barnet have signed forward Joe Hugill from Manchester United on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old joins the League Two Bees after spells on loan at Altrincham, Burton Albion, Wigan and most recently Carlisle United.

Barnet manager Dean Brennan likened Hugill to Jamie Vardy in playing style and told the club website he hopes he makes a big impact in the fourth tier.

"We've been after this type of player for a long time. Even though he's tall, his movements and attributes are all in behind," Brennan told the club website., external

"He's got pace, excellent finisher, very dynamic – we want him to look down the barrel of the goal. He's such an exciting player, he's like a Jamie Vardy or Michael Owen type."

The Durham-born forward, who came through the youth system at Old Trafford alongside Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho, has made nine appearances for United's under-21 side.
