Torquay United manager Paul Wotton says striker Matt Jay can continue to improve after scoring in each of his last four appearances.

The former Exeter City forward joined the Gulls in January after leaving League Two side Colchester United.

The 29-year-old - who helped Exeter win promotion to League One in 2022 - has signed a deal to keep him at Plainmoor until the summer of 2027.

"He's come into great form, which I thought he would," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

"I did say that the more minutes he gets on the pitch, the better he'll become.

"I think it's just his experience and his calmness on the pitch has been the most pleasing thing for me.

"Goals are a huge, huge thing so long may it continue."
