Port Vale boss Darren Moore says the League Two leaders' dramatic fightback to win a point at Cheltenham shows how they are seizing moments in games rather than waiting for things to happen.

Vale scored a 94th-minute goal to secure a 1-1 draw at Whaddon Road on Tuesday to maintain their lead over Walsall at the top of of the table.

They meet the Saddlers, who closed the gap to just one point by beating Notts County, at Vale Park on Saturday.

"I said to the boys, if you want to be successful in games you have to get the initiative and take the game - you can't sit back and wait," Moore told BBC Radio Stoke.

"We had enough ball and got into enough threatening positions against Cheltenham but we didn't make it happen [until the end] and I think that's what we've learned - we have to demand more from each other."

Ronan Curtis' late strike into the top corner was described by Moore as the "individual piece of brilliance" Vale needed and said the substitute was a "game-changer".

It meant Vale avoided slipping off the top of League Two for the first time since October.

Moore said remaining at the summit has given them a bit of a psychological boost ahead of the weekend's meeting with Walsall.

"It's great motivation. We have to learn [from the Cheltenham draw] and move on to Saturday," he said.

"It's another terrific game. Vale Park will be bouncing.

"We have a feel-good factor - we didn't lose - and it keeps that, and the run, going.

"Our never-say-die attitude is a massive plus factor."
