I’m not sure why Zirkzee started in all honesty. He’s slow and gave the ball away more than anyone. I’d get rid of Zirkzee in January and bring Chido Obi in.

Premier League reaction as Everton beat Man Utd 1-0 at Old Trafford
Everton had been playing with 10 men for most of the game after a fight between team-mates Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane
Gueye struck Keane in the 13th minute and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had to hold Gueye back as he took exception to a few choice words from Keane after a United attack
'A red card is the right decision' according to the laws of the game, says former Premier League assistant referee Darren Cann
Gueye has since apologised, saying, 'I want to apologise first to my team-mate Michael Keane...I take full responsibility for my reaction.'
Everton manager David Moyes admitted he 'quite likes' his players fighting with each other and Ruben Amorim said it is 'not a bad thing'
Everton move up to 11th in the Premier League, while Man Utd are ninth, with both on 18 points

Man Utd 0-1 Everton
It was a disappointing night for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee, who did not have the impact he would have wanted.
According to Opta, the forward had an xG of 0.35 with three shots at goal, two of which were on target. He had five touches in the opposition box but 25 touches total and one final third entry.
The 24-year-old made 25 passes with 60% accuracy.

He may be back for Sunday's trip to Crystal Palace but that has not yet been confirmed.

It is fairly clear Manchester United have a decent core of players, but the drop-off is substantial once injuries start to bite.
Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko were both missing last night. It meant Joshua Zirkzee started for the first time this season.
Zirkzee wants to earn a place in the Netherlands World Cup squad, and went close with a couple of headers.
The feeling is Cunha might be back for Sunday's trip to Crystal Palace but Sesko is out for at least a month and it won't be long before Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui - who all started last night - leave for the Africa Cup of Nations.
If Zirkzee wants to go to the World Cup - and stay at Old Trafford - he needs to do better.

38 years of supporting United last night, was the first time I turned them off. Absolutely no excuse for that performance. 1-0 down, 10 men, at Old Trafford - pathetic

The statistics from Opta paint a different picture to that of the final score in Everton 1-0 Premier League win over Manchester United.
At Old Trafford United had an expected goal rate of 1.71 compared to Everton's 0.25. The hosts also had 25 shots with six on target, compared to the Toffees three shots and one on target.
United also had more possession with 69.6% with 38 crosses and nine corners. The only thing Ruben Amorim's side were missing was a goal.
Man Utd 0-1 Everton
Manchester United had been experiencing an uptick in form of late.
Before their 1-0 loss to Everton, in their previous five Premier League outings they picked up 11 points with two draws and three wins. That also included a win over the defending champions Liverpool.
However, the United fans displayed what they thought of the team's performance at Old Trafford on Monday by booing them.
United's co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has previously said he will give the manager Ruben Amorim time to start seeing results. The Portuguese boss took over in November 2024 and last season they finished 15th in the league table, was knocked out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup and lost the Europa League final.
This campaign they are currently 10th in the league, have already been knocked out of the EFL Cup and are not competing in European football.

Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville: "You can't go from the fight that they showed in certain games to that. It just erodes confidence, it erodes trust.
"We're trying to build a trust in a manager, we're trying to build a trust in a team.
"The fans booed collectively at the end. It was loud, and rightly so. That was a really poor performance."

At the end of the day, Everton managed play out of their skin with just 10 men and won at Old Trafford which is a remarkable achievement. Although, it also helped that Man Utd played pretty bad as well.

The big issue is how bad was Lammens for the goal. Shot into the middle of the goal, a full hand on it, he pushes it into the net. Compare that to Pickford’s save. Looks like another dud to me!

Once again Utd fumble the chance to get into the UCL spots. No depth in this squad and too many players who have overstayed their welcome. What’s new?

Manchester United went into last night's game against Everton unbeaten in five matches, but that mini-revival came to a juddering halt as they set an unwanted new record.
It is the first time the Red Devils have lost a Premier League home game despite their opponents having a player sent off.
It is all the more damning that Idrissa Gueye’s red card came so early in the match – Ruben Amorim’s side had an extra man for 77 minutes but failed to make it count.
But credit is also due to the Merseysiders for making light of their numerical disadvantage. It is the first time they have won a top-flight game after having a player dismissed in the opening 45 minutes since August 2006.
David Moyes was also the manager for that game, a 2-0 victory at Tottenham in which Kevin Kilbane was given his marching orders in the 33rd minute.

I had a full blown punch up with my fellow centre back. We lost 1-0 and argued whose fault the goal was. It got broke up and we went down the pub afterwards. Happy days!

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping his team-mate Michael Keane, but they still beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford last night.
We have been reacting to the game and that incident in particular on this live page this morning.

Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool have formed a Super League in mid-table

It might have got lost around the wider game last night but Everton are now above Liverpool in the Premier League table.
I know for a fact David Moyes knew - and would have been happy to talk about it in his post-match press conference.
I also know the Everton fans knew because long after the final whistle they were still singing about 'looking down on the red...' something or other.
These things matter in a city where the support for respective clubs runs deep - and where Liverpool have dominated for so long.
Man Utd 0-1 Everton
Manchester United missed the chance to potentially move into the Premier League top four with victory last night, and stay 10th in the congested mid-table.
One place behind them are Everton, who thanks to victory last night are now above Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the table..

Sending Gueye off was nothing like an offside/VAR decision we usually see. It might be light but given how many years it's been since this last happened it clearly works as deterrent. It's really not difficult to avoid hitting your teammates, it's pathetic and petulant from a grown man.
Harry, Manchester
Anyone justifying, condoning or accepting of Gueye's behaviour and critical of the ref's decision is basically saying to kids that you can slap someone on the pitch and you you should be able to get away with it and continue playing.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said of the red card incident on Sky Sports: "There is no doubt a hand comes out to the face but it didn't look too much.
"They might have had to send him off purely because there is a strike to the face.
"They were not fighting, it wasn't a scrap. It could have been dealt with by a yellow. I don't think it needed to be a red.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher: "I just think, can a referee manage the situation a bit better?
"Can you get the two of them together and say: 'Hey can you behave yourselves?' Just sort of manage the situation rather than, that's the rulebook."

As soon as that whistle blew, David Moyes was on the jog because something could be going off in that dressing room right now.
Idrissa Gueye was fuming. Whether it was wrong or right, he has got a red card and red mist has descended.
Michael Keane was on the jog as well, he was going for the dressing room too! I'm missing football, I want to be in that dressing room right now.

The fight reminded me of the time Adebeyor gave Bendtner a bloody nose in 2008 when Arsenal were playing Spurs. We couldn't believe that they were fighting each other on the pitch. No red card though.
