Burton Albion's win at Stevenage has helped the battling Brewers forge closer bonds as a team, says midfielder Charlie Webster.
The 20-year-old scored the only goal of the game in the first half before the East Staffordshire side had Terence Vancooten dismissed after the break.
Vancooten's challenge on Jamie Reid earned Stevenage a penalty, which the striker put over the bar, and the Brewers then hung on for more than 30 minutes to see out a win that moved them to within two points of safety.
"It was one of the best wins we have had so far," Webster told BBC Radio Derby.
"There are certain types of wins that are the best ones, and this one for sure has brought us together. Not that we needed it, it's just helped even more.
"We showed so much grit, so much focus and concentration within the group and it brings you even closer when you have to defend and stay together."
Victory at Stevenage came three days after the resurgent Brewers had a six-match unbeaten run ended by Bristol Rovers.
Burton boss Gary Bower demanded an immediate response from his side at the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday.
"The reaction was terrific," Bowyer said.
"They were together, they had each other's back, they fought for the badge, they fought for the supporters."
Burton face 10th-placed Lincoln City on Saturday and, if they beat the Imps and results go their way, they could move out of the drop zone.
