Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante made his first senior start for Ghana as they were beaten 2-0 by Japan in an international friendly in Toyota.

The 26-year-old played 75 minutes for the Black Stars before being replaced by Christopher Bonsu Baah.

It was Thomas-Asante's sixth appearance for Ghana and he has scored one goal, which came in a 2-1 Unity Cup defeat by Nigeria in May.

Ghana, who have qualified for next year's World Cup, will face South Korea in another friendly next Tuesday.
