Yeovil Town are set to appoint Chesterfield assistant Danny Webb as their new manager, BBC Radio Somerset reports.

Webb had a spell with the Glovers during his playing career making seven appearances between 2006-07 and has worked on the coaching staff at the Spireites since 2021.

The 42-year-old retired from his playing career in 2014 and arrives after Mark Cooper was sacked on 26 August.

Webb is the son of former Chelsea and Brentford manager David Webb who also managed Yeovil in 2000 and then became the club owner and executive chairman in 2005.

Yeovil are 18th in the National League table, with two wins from their first eight matches this season.

Webb's playing career as a defender was in lower-league football which also saw him play at Cambridge United, Bath City, Salisbury City and Brighton.

After moving into coaching, he first worked as assistant manager at Leyton Orient, before taking charge of the side for 12 matches during 2017 and winning two of them.

His has also worked with the youth sides at Orient and Watford.

At Chesterfield he managed the side for three matches in early 2022, winning two and drawing the other, after former manager James Rowe was suspended pending investigation into misconduct allegations.

Yeovil next play Woking at home on Saturday (12:30 BST).
