Birmingham City matchwinner Keshi Anderson says the promotion-chasing League One leaders must maintain their standard of "quality" if they are to return to the Championship in May.

Blues boss Chris Davies last week challenged his side, prior to their segment of two tough away night games against second-placed Wrexham and fourth-placed Huddersfield Town, to still be top on the other side of it.

City's 1-0 victory at Huddersfield, earned by Anderson's superb 49th-minute 20-yard volley, coming on top of the 1-1 draw at Wrexham, gave Davies's side four points out of a possible six.

They remain two points clear of second-placed Wycombe with two games in hand.

Tuesday's win has lifted Blues eight points clear of third-placed Wrexham, who lost at home for the first time this season, and 12 clear of Huddersfield.

"Other teams around us are doing almost as well," Anderson told BBC Radio WM. "But it would have been even nicer to get six points.

"That's what we play football for. To win things. And we have to take advatage of our games in hand. But it's a long way to go from any job being 'job done'.

"Wrexham made it very difficult for us. They threw a lot of long balls in the box in the last 20 minutes and, after we'd dominated for 70 minutes, Huddersfield had a go at it too - but we held on."

Anderson's goal was his sixth in all competitions this season, to go with six assists - and he was very pleased with a quality right-foot strike that he reckons must be "among the top three best I've ever scored".

"I was going to try and hit it on the half-volley but it came higher than I expected so I took it on my chest and caught it as cleanly as I could," he added.

The next test for the 29-year-old former Crystal Palace trainee and his Blues team-mates is to back up Tuesday's win by beating mid-table Rotherham United at St Andrew's on Saturday.

"Rotherham will be a competely different game," Anderson said.

"We just have to make sure our quality overshadows theirs - just like every game we play."

Davies also now has two extra options, after his two January signings Kieran Dowell and Grant Hanley both came on as late substitutions at the John Smith's Stadium, to make their Blues debut.
