Middlesbrough have signed Ipswich Town defender George Edmundson on a two-and-a-half year contract.

The 27-year-old centre-back joined Boro on a season-long loan from the Premier League side but was recalled earlier this week before a permanent deal was agreed.

Edmundson has made 21 appearances so far this season for the Championship play-off chasers.

He made 40 appearances for Ipswich in the last two seasons as the Tractor Boys won back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
