King's Lynn Town have confirmed that Joe Simpson will continue as head coach following last month's resignation of James Rowe.
Former Chesterfield and AFC Fylde boss Rowe left The Linnets after just four months in charge, and nine league games into the new season.
Simpson was put in temporary charge and they won 5-1 at Royston in the FA Cup in his first game at the helm.
Since then they have been beaten twice, 3-2 by Scarborough Athletic in National League North and 4-2 at Scunthorpe in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.
Despite that, the club said Simpson had shown "real professionalism, maturity, and commitment to the club during a challenging period".
A statement added: "After careful consideration, the club has decided to continue with Joe leading the team, supported by an experienced structure around him.
"Paul Jones has returned to assist on the coaching side, and an experienced external advisor has joined to support Joe across all areas of management."
The situation will, however, remain under review on a "week-to-week" basis.
Simpson, who previously managed the club's women's team and academy side, returned to the coaching staff in the summer after spells at Boston United and St Albans City.
King's Lynn are 13th in the league and will be at home to Fylde on Saturday.
