Norwich City captain Josh Sargent says he's in a "good spot" at Carrow Road after an expected transfer deadline day move failed to materialise.
Throughout the summer, it looked likely Sargent was going to move on, with strong interest from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Premier League newcomers Burnley, but he is staying with the Canaries at least for the rest of 2025.
The USA international has scored six times in five games for Norwich this season, with his five league goals making him the leading scorer in the Championship, outlining his importance to the club.
Norwich sold Borja Sainz and Marcelino Nunez this summer, while bringing a number of players into the club, but holding on to Sargent could prove to be the best piece of business they have conducted.
"A lot of decisions had to be made, not just for myself, but for my family overall - I think I'm in a good spot at Norwich," Sargent said, as he prepares for international friendlies against South Korea and Japan.
"I'm at a place where I know I can score goals, which of course, is important going into the World Cup."
USA goal drought weighs heavy
Despite being prolific in front of goal for Norwich, Sargent has not scored for the USA men's national side since November 2019.
He found the net twice in the Concacaf Nations League 4-0 win over Cuba back then, helping the side to top Group A and eventually win the tournament.
"I'd probably be lying if I said I didn't think about it," Sargent added., external "Of course, I know it's been a while. I'm doing so well at the club level at the moment.
"I just keep reminding myself how well I'm doing there. I know I can score goals, and I know it's a matter of time that I'm going to score for the national team.
"I've had a good start to the season, so hopefully I can continue that form all throughout the season and keep scoring."
