McCalmont leaving Carlisle to move to A-League

Carlisle United midfielder Alfie McCalmont is leaving the club to join Central Coast Mariners in Australia's A-League.
McCalmont initially signed for Carlisle in January 2023 on loan from Leeds United before agreeing a permanent move last summer.
The 24-year-old played 54 times for Paul Simpson's side. He scored four goals as the Cumbrians were promoted out of League Two via the play-offs at Wembley, but they were relegated at the first attempt.
"I asked everyone if they were 100% committed to taking this club back up the league, and Alfie said he wanted to leave," Simpson told the club's website, external.
In Australia, McCalmont will link up with former MK Dons boss Mark Jackson, with whom he worked with the Leeds Under-23s squad.
