Former West Ham United assistant Rick Passmoor has taken over as interim head coach at Leicester City as they prepare for their Women's Super League opener.

Passmore will work alongside coaches Tom Pressman and Ollie Colebourne until the search for a first team manager is concluded.

The Hammers confirmed the departure of Passmoor,, external who became part of Rehanne Skinner's coaching staff in September 2023, on Tuesday.

In a statement released by West Ham, Passmoor said: "With 12 months left on my contract at West Ham United, I have had to make the tough decision to step back from my role at the club for family reasons."

The former Notts County and Leeds United boss will take over from Amandine Miquel, who was sacked by Leicester just 10 days before the new WSL season.

Miquel, 41, led Leicester to a 10th-placed finish last season, with 20 points from 22 games - 10 points clear of relegated Crystal Palace.

She won five of her 22 league matches, and secured two more points than in the 2023-24 season.

Leicester travel to Manchester United for their opening league game on Sunday, 7 September (12:00 BST).
