Experienced forward Danny Ward is among nine players with first-team appearances being released by Huddersfield Town following the conclusion of the League One season.

Ward, 34, ends his third spell with the Terriers after scoring 47 goals in 284 games, having re-joined the club in August 2020 from Cardiff City.

He has not played since the end of December after suffering a knee ligament injury.

Forward Joe Koroma is also departing after scoring 35 goals in 168 appearances across six seasons, as are central defenders Tom Lees and Matthew Pearson.

Lees, 34, played 155 times after joining from Sheffield Wednesday in August 2021, while Pearson clocked up 135 appearances, having arrived at the same time from Luton.

Defenders Ollie Turton and Josh Ruffels, midfielders Scott High and Loick Ayina and forward Conor Falls are also being released.

Huddersfield also confirmed the official departure of club captain Jonathan Hogg after 12 years at the West Yorkshire club.

The Terriers were only two points outside the play-off places in League One with six games to go this season but lost all of them as hopes of promotion ended.
