Plymouth sign Talovierov for club 'record fee'

Plymouth Argyle have signed Ukrainian international Maksym Talovierov from LASK for a club "record fee".

The 24-year-old centre-back has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Home Park.

Talovierov has seven international caps since making his Ukraine debut last year and made 49 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga for LASK.

He has also played for Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec and Dynamo Ceske Budejovice.

Talovierov provides much-needed depth to the Argyle defence, with Brendan Galloway out for the season and Lewis Gibson having left for Preston North End earlier this month.

Plymouth stated the deal represented a record fee for the club,, external but did not state the exact amount. It is the second time they have broken their transfer record in this window having previously done so in signing Michael Baidoo from Elsborg.

"I have been open since I joined Argyle that we would be patient to bring in the right players who could help the team," Plymouth head coach Miron Muslic told the club's website, external.

"In Maksym we feel we have done just that as he is a commanding presence who will add height and physicality to the side, but he is also good on the ball and technically good.

"Most importantly, he is a good defender and will strengthen our options in the defensive department of the squad."

The Pilgrims are bottom of the Championship table but could call on Talovierov for Saturday's visit of West Bromwich Albion, subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
