Republic of Ireland v Hungary - Who impressed you?

Adam Idah celebrates his late equaliser
- Published
Republic of Ireland came from behind for a 2-2 against 10-man Hungary in their opening match of 2026 World Cup qualifying at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
It has been a nightmare start for the hosts, falling behind after just two minutes from a Barnabas Varga strike. A Roland Sallai header doubled the Hungarian advantage with a quarter of an hour played.
Evan Ferguson pulled one back early in the second half before Sallai blotted his copybook with a rash challenge that was punished with a red card.
After incessant pressure, Adam Idah headed home the equaliser in stoppage time for a share of the spoils.
