Stockport sign Burton defender Hughes

Stockport County have signed Burton Albion defender Sam Hughes on a three-year deal.

The 27-year-old joins League One Stockport on a free transfer after his contract at the Brewers expired.

Hughes spent four seasons at Burton and made more than 100 appearances.

"His League One experience, leadership qualities and the potential to improve with his age will make him a great addition to our squad," Stockport boss Dave Challinor told the club website.
