Rai Dos Santos' late goal secured victory for Jersey Bulls

Jersey Bulls boss Elliot Powell says he was delighted by his side's efforts after they scored a stoppage-time winner to beat Deal Town 2-1.

Rai Dos Santos finished from close range in the fifth minute of additional time, after good work by James Sunley, to secure three points.

Miguel Carvalho had given Bulls a first-minute lead in front of a season-high crowd of 1,003 at Springfield as the forward got on the end of Lorne Bickley's cross.

The hosts were thankful to goalkeeper Euan van der Vliet who kept them ahead with a number of fine saves, although he could do nothing when Bulls defender Luke Campbell turned a cross past him for an own goal with 10 minutes left.

But Dos Santos was there to get a dramatic winner that moved Bulls up to 11th in Isthmian League South East, eight points off the play-off places with three games in hand.

"It was important we marked the occasion with a performance and hopefully that's a game and a performance that will make people come back," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey.

"I thought it was us at our best at times, our worst at times, our own worst enemy at times as well but to be on the right end of a 94th-minute winner I'm really proud.

"We were talking about whether we settle for a point or go for it and I think the subs that we put on showed that we wanted to go for it a little bit, but still stay in the game in terms of a structure.

"I thought the moment of quality from James to suddenly set up the goal at the end was brilliant.

"He's been frustrated at a lack of game time, and we know that he's got the quality - we just need him to impact games a little bit more and affect the outcome of games, and he's certainly done that with a great bit of composure.

"We've started the game well, we finished the game well, and after three games in a week that's all you can ask for."
