Blackburn Rovers head coach John Eustace has insisted that his side will not get carried away despite an "encouraging" start to the season.

Blackburn are unbeaten after the first four games of the Championship season with home wins against Derby County and Oxford United as well as draws at Norwich and Burnley.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Eustace said there was no time for his side to rest on their laurels.

"We're four games in, there's still another 42 games to go," the former Birmingham City boss said.

"No one's getting carried away by anything, all we know is we've got to keep building and keep working hard."

The 44-year-old was appointed Blackburn head coach in February, months after his controversial sacking from fellow Championship side at the time, Birmingham City.

A total of 10 new players arrived at Ewood Park over the summer but Eustace claimed Rovers unbeaten start to the season was down to efforts from last season, not the transfer market.

"I think it's been a lot of hard work from the players and the staff. Coming in, the hard work started then," he added.

"The group of players we've got have been excellent and what we've been wanting from them."

Former Watford midfielder Eustace also spoke about the availability of Todd Cantwell.

The ex-England Under-21 international returned to English football this summer after one and a half seasons at Scottish side Rangers but he revealed Blackburn's new signing is still unavailable.

"He hasn't had much of a pre-season. He's behind a lot of the lads but he's shown glimpses in training that he's getting fitter and we've got to manage that properly," Eustace added.

Blackburn will be hoping to get their third consecutive Championship home win on Saturday when they host Bristol City.
