Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has been given a two-match touchline ban and fined £2,750 after being sent from the dugout in the 2-1 loss at Wycombe Wanderers.

Caldwell was incensed at a stoppage-time penalty for handball awarded to Wycombe, which saw the League One high-fliers win the game on New Year's Day.

Caldwell pleaded guilty to two charges of using foul and abusive language to officials.

The first related to abuse directed at the fourth official, for which he was fined £1,000 and banned for one game.

The second was for abusing the referee when he came over to send him off for the first offence, for which he was handed a second match ban and an additional £1,750 fine.

Caldwell subsequently apologised to the officials and the FA for the offences.

He is the second member of Exeter City's coaching staff to be disciplined by the FA this season after first-team coach David Perkins was fined £500 after being sent from the dugout in a game against Lincoln City in November.
