Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed an interest in Wales midfielder Jordan James.

But he says there is nothing "imminent" in terms of transfer business at the north Wales club before Monday's transfer deadline

The Red Dragons have recruited 10 players already this summer and have been monitoring Rennes central midfielder James' progress in France.

Parkinson had hinted he hinted he had been keen to add to his midfield options after last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

"He's a player we've looked at, also I know him from his time at Birmingham as well and followed his progress in the Welsh team and Rennes," Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales.

"Obviously (he's) a good player, but he's just one of a lot of players we've looked at over the last month or so."

The 21-year-old - who was named in Craig Bellamy's Wales squad for September's fixtures with Kazakhstan and Canada - has also been linked with Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

Italian side Parma are also reportedly keen on the player who featured 24 times in all competitions for Ligue 1 side Rennes last season following his switch from Birmingham City.

James shone during his time with the Blues, scoring 10 goals in 105 appearances for the Midlands club before securing a switch to France, where he still has three years on his contract.

Parkinson, though, says his immediate focus is on Saturday's game at Millwall rather than transfers, despite ongoing links of late deals and frustration over injuries to summer arrivals Josh Windass, Liberate Cacace and George Thomason.

Striker Ollie Palmer and defender Dan Scarr are also amongst those being tipped with moves away from the club ahead of the end of the end of the summer window on 1 September.

"Nothing imminent (in terms of) ins or outs, we're concentrating on the game at the weekend, that's where we are," Parkinson said. "We've signed some good players, I think the squad is decent.

"Obviously the injuries have been frustrating, particularly with the new lads because it's limited our ability to integrate them with the squad into the team, but in general when the window closes we've put together a squad which is decent."
