Aston Villa's attacking midfielder Kenza Dali is set to join United States club San Diego Wave.

The France international, 33, was left out of Villa's squad for their Women's Super League draw with Everton on Saturday.

Dali was on Merseyside to watch the game but is expected to fly over to the United States to complete her move this week.

She confirmed her imminent departure from Villa in a social media post, external on Sunday.

"I still feel that I wasn't able to give everything I had for the club. I wish I could have done more," said Dali.

"It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving the club but felt like it is a decision I needed to make."

She has struggled for game time this season under previous manager Robert de Pauw, and has been in discussions with San Diego Wave while interim Villa boss Shaun Goater has been in charge.

Dali has scored nine goals in 66 appearances for Villa since joining from Everton in 2022.

National Women's Soccer League side San Diego Wave are managed by former Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall, who was named as Casey Stoney's permanent replacement in January.

The NWSL season begins on 14 March.
