Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has spoken to both Patrick Bamford and Daniel Farke after the Blades boss was targeted for abuse during Leeds United's promotion celebrations.

Striker Bamford was pictured on social media at Elland Road's post-promotion party leading a derogatory chant about Wilder.

But the Sheffield United manager said he had "no issue" with the Leeds man bringing him into their celebrations particularly given Bamford picked up the phone to speak with him the following day.

"Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I've no issue at all with it," Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I'm not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

"We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel [Farke] as well yesterday and had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a top guy.

"They are a top team and a top football club and like I said I'm a big boy. When I was playing we used to give it and take it and that's part and parcel of the game at every level, even on a Sunday morning.

"I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat."

Wilder has form in the book after being filmed singing derogatory songs about Sheffield Wednesday and manager Danny Rohl after posting and away victories in the two Steel City derbies this season.

And in the 2018-19 season, when the Blades won automatic promotion and Leeds missed out, losing in the play offs, Wilder branded Bamford "a muppet".

Sheffield United now find the boot on the other foot and face a nervous wait to see whether they can plot a path through the play-offs and go up with Leeds and Burnley.

But he was full of praise for the job that Leeds have done this season.

"I would swap our position for theirs in a heartbeat but it isn't the case," Wilder added. "But as I keep going on about, 94 points for both of those teams is an incredible achievement."
