Barry Ferguson would "love to see" Vaclav Cerny at Rangers next season but the interim head coach declined to comment on whether he has any influence on plans for the future.
The Czech Republic winger, 27, is on a season-long loan from German club Wolfsburg and has scored 17 goals in 44 appearances.
Ferguson also said he had "had a private chat" with Cerny after the winger was filmed squirting water towards the main stand at Celtic Park in the wake of Rangers' late winner earlier this month.
Reports indicate Rangers have a limited window to sign Cerny on a permanent basis for a set fee.
"He's been outstanding for me," Ferguson explained.
"He's a difference maker. What I've loved from him is his work without the ball. It's been excellent.
"I would love to see a player of that quality remain here but I would hazard a guess that there's going to be a lot of clubs interested in him."
Earlier this week, Rangers announced they are "in the process of issuing lifetime bans" to those responsible for a banner that has led to a suspended closure of the Copland Stand from Uefa. A repeat incident within two years would mean the 8,000-seater stand would be shut for one European home fixture.
Rangers were also fined €30,000 (£25,000) for the offensive banner, which was displayed this month during the home leg of their Europa League victory over Fenerbahce, €6,000 (£5,000) for the blocking of passageways inside the stadium and €4,500 (£3,755) for the throwing of objects at the same game.
And Ferguson said: "The most important thing for me is that the fans are going to be inside the stadium supporting the team. Since I've been back, the support that I've had from the stands has been brilliant. I appreciate it, the staff appreciate it, the players [also].
"We don't want to see partial stadium closures or fines. I just want to see my supporters getting right behind my team."
