Luton Town have signed striker Nahki Wells and defender Hakeem Odoffin on free transfers ahead of the new League One season.

And the Hatters have also brought in centre-back Nigel Lonwijk on a season-long loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wells, 35, left Bristol City after scoring 10 goals in 43 games last season, while Odoffin, Rotherham's player of the season in 2024-25, turned down a new deal offered by the South Yorkshire club.

Luton were relegated from the Championship in May and begin the new campaign at home to AFC Wimbledon on Friday 1 August (kick-off 20:00 BST).

Wells comes to Kenilworth Road after five-and-a-years at Ashton Gate, where he was a member of the squad who reached the Championship play-offs last season before losing to Sheffield United over two legs in the semi-finals.

He is a Bermuda international and has scored 174 goals in English football, with Luton boss Matt Bloomfield saying: "He's someone with extreme know-how and a real desire to still go and score goals, a real desire to go and achieve something and a real desire to be a part of what we are building."

Odoffin, 27, left Rotherham in May after four years in South Yorkshire and Bloomfield said: "Hakeem is a real leader and someone I've been aware of for a number of years. He is someone who we feel can have the personality and character to have a real impact for us."

Lonwijk's loan deal could become permanent if "certain criteria" are met and he is reunited with Bloomfield, who he previously worked with during a loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers in 2024.

The 22-year-old Dutchman was previously on loan at Plymouth Argyle when they won the League One title in 2022-23, and has also had loan spells at Fortuna Sittard, Grasshopper and Huddersfield Town.
