Birmingham and Wrexham fined by FA

Birmingham City and Wrexham have each been fined by the Football Association (FA) following their League One game earlier this month.
All 20 outfield players were involved in a melee after Birmingham’s Alex Cochrane and Wrexham substitute Paul Mullin clashed in the 80th minute.
An independent regulatory commission decided that Wrexham should be fined £3,750 following the incident, while Birmingham were handed the standard penalty of £2,500.
An FA spokesperson said both clubs “admitted that they failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper and provocative way”.
Mullin, Wrexham skipper James McClean and Birmingham captain Krystian Bielik were among those booked after the clash, with Bielik later sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Mullin later denied suggestions he almost bit Cochrane’s leg and the FA took no action against the Wrexham striker.
Birmingham came back to win the game 3-1 after Jack Marriott had given Wrexham an early lead, with Jay Stansfield scoring twice before Tomoki Iwata sealed the Blues’ victory.
The game was watched by Birmingham co-owner Tom Brady – who was joined by England greats David Beckham and Gary Neville - and Wrexham counterpart Rob McElhenney.
