Sophie Peskett says Ipswich Town must avoid a "getting-used-to-losing" mentality as they look for an upturn in results in Women's Super League 2.

Ipswich went down 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday despite Peskett's first league goal of the season giving them the lead.

Joe Sheehan's side have now lost five games in a row, leaving them bottom of the table with just four points from nine matches following last season's promotion.

"Going from last season where we won a lot of games and had a lot of positive results, players are getting used to losing but we're all trying to keep our heads up and we know this league is really open and it can change week on week," Peskett told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"Before the game we spoke about winning our duels, and first half we did it really well but this league is really (about) fine margins and you get punished.

"We'll all be gutted to take not even a point from the game because I think we deserved that."

Normally a winger, Peskett was given a different role by head coach Sheehan and put Town ahead in the 22nd minute.

"I'm happy to get off the mark," she said. "I was given a bit more of a free role, more in the midfield area. I had more defensive work to do than I'm used to which again is good learning for me.

"I'm quite pleased (with my performance) but there's things, mostly out of possession, that I do want to scrub up on and will watch back and reflect on."

On the demands of playing in the second tier of the women's game, she continued: "I genuinely believe you learn more from losing so I'm just trying to take as much as possible from every game.

"The challenge we face every week is exciting and you're always going to improve if you're out of your depth a little bit more. If it's too easy, you're not going to learn."

Ipswich will be in League Cup action this Sunday at home to top-flight side London City Lionesses.

Peskett said head coach Sheehan would leave no stone unturned in training to give them a chance of a first group win.

She added: "He's a really positive guy and wants to keep the spirit of the group really high.

"He wants everything to be perfect and his (attention to) detail, I've never seen anything like it. He's even more hungry and desperately wants this team to succeed and he's doing everything he can to [achieve] that."
