Everton have signed Norway captain Maren Mjelde, who previously spent seven successful seasons with Chelsea, on a permanent deal.
Defender Mjelde, 35, left Chelsea in the summer having won six Women's Super League titles and the FA Cup four times.
She joined Norwegian side Arna-Bjornar in August but is now returning to the WSL.
"I am always hungry for more, I love playing football and am happy to continue my journey here at Everton," Mjelde told club media.
"Hopefully I can contribute. If it is with goals or just the player I am, I want to do the best for the team to make Everton better and progress – that is why I am here."
Everton boss Brian Sorensen said Mjelde - his side's sixth signing this winter - is a player who "commands respect".
He added: "She is a leader on and off the field and possesses invaluable experience. She is versatile and adds depth to our back line and midfield.
"Maren knows the Women's Super League well and knows what it takes to win games in this division. She is a role model who will help the younger players in our squad. We are delighted to have her on board."
