Peterborough United have announced a deal to sign Swedish striker Gustav Lindgren in January on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

In a post on X, external, formerly Twitter, owner Darragh MacAnthony confirmed it would be a "transfer package worth over £500,000".

Lindgren is the second player signed from Degerfors IF, defender Oscar Wallin having joined Posh last month.

Peterborough are currently 11th in League One after reaching the play-offs in both of the past two seasons.

Boss Darren Ferguson told the club website:, external "I believe this is a fantastic signing. We have been looking at the Swedish market through our analyst and he obviously came to our attention. Oscar's dad also mentioned for us to have a look and we like what we see.

"He could be a really good player for this football club, he is quick, a really good presser from the front and an excellent finisher."
