Forest Green Rovers manager Robbie Savage has said the club can be "unstoppable" if they play to their potential after an unbeaten start to the season.

The Gloucestershire side have won six and drawn two of their eight National League matches so far in 2025-26.

They play Scunthorpe, who are also unbeaten, on Saturday.

The former Wales international was appointed in July, having previously managed non-league side Macclesfield FC.

Savage told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "Right now I believe only we can beat us. That's what I want to instil in my players, that invincibility that when they cross that white line, if you can work as exceptionally hard as we're doing, nobody can beat us.

"If we make a mistake or there's a set piece or we switch off, then yes, we can get beaten. If we play to the maximum capability of us, we'll be unstoppable."

Savage was in the stand among fans taking selfies and celebrating after their 1-0 win against Hartlepool last weekend.

He said he wanted supporters to feel part of their successes, but also that they were not getting ahead of themselves despite comments from fans of other clubs.

"I get sent things on social media, me celebrating with the fans, a lot of other fans saying 'they think they won the league already' and I don't," he said.

"We're in the business of entertainment, engagement and inclusivity and the fans, I want to embrace it and I want them to be part of it.

"I know how hard it is for this football club to win a game, the intensity the opposition play at, the way they want to beat you, so why not celebrate wins?"

Savage also dismissed any speculation online linking him to roles further up the football pyramid, adding: "The journey's only just beginning here."
