Sheffield United and Watford have been charged with misconduct following a stormy ending to Sunday's Championship game at Bramall Lane.

It follows a confrontation between a large group of players in the closing moments of the match, which United won 1-0 thanks to an early own goal by Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann.

Both clubs have been charged with failing to ensure their players did not behave in an "improper and/or provocative" way in the 94th minute and after the final whistle.

They have been given until Friday to provide a response to the Football Association charge.

The defeat was Watford's first of the season but they are third in the table, three points and five places above Chris Wilder's unbeaten Blades.
