Torquay United boss Paul Wotton says he is confident his side's away form will improve.

The Gulls are third in National League South, seven points off leaders Hornchurch having played one game fewer.

But Wotton's side have taken just two points from four away games this season as they prepare to travel to winless Salisbury on Saturday.

"In bits and bobs of the away games we've had some good stuff," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

"We haven't been quite consistent enough over 90, 96 minutes to get the results we want.

"Hampton we should definitely have held on for the win, Horsham was an error, Maidstone I thought was a battling performance, Hemel I thought was awful."

Torquay return to action after a weekend off following their early FA Cup exit.

Wotton says that fortnight between games has been crucial for him to work with his side as they fine-tune their tactics for their trips away from Plainmoor.

"I think we still have 19 away games left, so there's plenty of time to sort it out, and we will," he added.

"We are a much more attacking team this year. We've got better attacking players and more technical players.

"So scoring goals hasn't been a problem away from home, but conceding goals has been, so maybe I have to play a different way away from home, maybe a little bit more conservative.

"I'm not happy about... not so much the performance, it's the scorelines, the results, but I'm not concerned by it."
