Guernsey FC returned to action with a 4-1 win over Midhurst and Easebourne in the Southern Combination Premier Division.

Having not played for a fortnight - and not had a home game for almost a month - the Green Lions earned their fourth victory in five league games.

Callum Le Lacheur forced a good early save from the home goalkeeper while Charlton Gauvain went close after 28 minutes.

But the Guernsey midfielder did not have to wait long to open the scoring when he finished after combining with Niall Hainsworth five minutes later.

Le Lacheur had a second goal ruled out for offside three minutes later as the Green Lions had the better of the first half.

Ross Allen made it 2-0 five minutes into the second period when he converted a Gauvain corner, but the visitors pulled a goal back three minutes later when Dan Nguyen found the bottom corner after a Guernsey mistake.

But the islanders restored their two-goal advantage 10 minutes later when Sam Murray pounced on a goalkeeping error and set up Le Lacheur for an easy finish.

Le Lacheur got a second in stoppage time to make it 4-1 as Guernsey reacted well after their first league defeat of the season a fortnight ago at Little Common.

"I thought we were dominant, I thought we deserved to win the game," Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We wanted to get at them a little bit and get ourselves up the pitch and pin them back and then try and keep turning the screw against them and I think we did that mostly.

"First half we had players in positions where we wanted them to be and the opposition to be exactly where we wanted to be too, but then it becomes a question of breaking them down with their compact space that we've forced and they've created.

"That's the hardest bit, we probably didn't do that bit very well, but we scored a really good goal and at 1-0 it was dominant, but it's always on a knife-edge when it's something like that, but we managed to finish it off in the second half which was good."
