Torquay United manager Paul Wotton says his side were "absolutely magnificent" in their 2-1 win at Maidenhead United.

The Gulls recorded back-to-back away wins for the first time this season after victory at Farnborough on Wednesday night.

The win moves Torquay back up to third place in National League South - two points behind second-placed Weston-Super-Mare and eight behind leaders Hornchurch.

Callum Dolan gave Wotton's side a 40th-minute lead before Remi Clerima headed Jordan Young's cross past his own goalkeeper to make it 2-0 with 20 minutes left.

Liam Dulson's goal in the third minute of stoppage time ensured a tense finish, but the Gulls held on.

"We made one mistake in the game in the 91st minute and they scored and the last couple of minutes was mayhem," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

"But before that I thought we were magnificent, we were absolutely magnificent.

"It's been a long week. The Hornchurch performance was exceptional, Farnborough was exceptional and I actually thought we played better today than we did against Farnborough and could have been three or four up at half-time.

"I loved our bravery to play, I loved the passion, the commitment from the players, the fans as well made it into a really brilliant away day.

"I loved our fitness, the boys were fitter than Maidenhead as well, and I thank them for their efforts."
