Guernsey FC's fight against relegation from Isthmian League South Central got a huge boost as they beat fellow strugglers Metropolitan Police 2-0 at Footes Lane.

The victory - just the Green Lions' seventh of the season - saw them move out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Josh Addison made an excellent 16th-minute save to keep the visitors out while Sam Murray forced a good save at the other end 20 minutes later.

Simon Arnold broke the deadlock two minutes from half-time as the Guernsey midfielder reacted quickest to a rebounded Charlton Gauvain effort.

Record goalscorer Ross Allen was on hand to blast an 81st-minute penalty into the top corner after Jacob Fallaize had been fouled in the box.

The win sees Guernsey go above South Park on goal difference with three games in hand.

They are now three points off Met Police who have played four more matches.
