Sam Murray's stoppage-time goal earned Guernsey FC a 1-0 win at Peacehaven and Telscombe in the Southern Combination Premier Division.

Both sides had chances in a goalless first half - Callum Le Lacheur and Charlton Gauvain went close for the islanders while Callum Edwards and Ross Barclay had decent efforts for the hosts.

Barclay had a penalty appeal waved away for the hosts 20 minutes into the second half as the Green Lions - who won 8-0 at home to Roffey last week - struggled to create chances after the break.

Substitute Fin Patterson came closest to breaking the deadlock for Guernsey as he shot wide with 11 minutes to go.

But, with the game drawing to a close, Murray finished well after latching on to Will Fazackerley's flick-on to earn the Green Lions back-to-back wins.

The victory lifts the islanders to seventh in their division with games in hand on the sides around them.

"It was a great result given the circumstances we had to deal with today," said Guernsey manager Tony Vance, whose side's delayed flight meant the game's kick-off had to be put back by an hour.

"We've had so many sucker punches over the years and to get one in the last minute in a positive way was outstanding," he added to BBC Radio Guernsey.

"Both goalkeepers made really good saves, Josh [Addison] in particular for us made some outstanding saves, I think he was man of the match.

"But in terms of goal chances and goal opportunities we had a fair few ourselves, so a draw would have been absolutely fair if I'm honest, but I'll take the win."
