Everton's Galli suffers ACL injury in WSL opener

Italy international Aurora Galli was injured late on in Everton's 4-0 defeat at Brighton

Everton have confirmed midfielder Aurora Galli suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Italy international went down clutching her knee late on in the 4-0 defeat and was taken off in the 87th minute.

After the game boss Brian Sorensen said "it looked like one of the bad ones" and a scan has now confirmed the ACL injury.

A statement from Everton said: "The 27-year-old will now undergo rehabilitation at Finch Farm under the care of Everton's medical team."
