Versatile Walsall defender Courtney Clarke says he is "forever grateful" to the club for giving him a shot at league football and is determined to make the most of his opportunity.
The 22-year-old, who can play at full-back, wing-back and in midfield, joined the Saddlers from non-league Eastbourne Borough in the summer.
He made his Walsall debut on the opening day of the League Two season and first start in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town, playing for 89 minutes.
"I'm very grateful that the gaffer's [Mat Sadler] given me the chance and hopefully there'll be more to come," he told BBC Radio WM.

Having made six appearances from the bench, Clarke started in midfield against The Cod Army as Walsall consolidated their good recent run of three wins in a row with a solid point on the road.
He admitted to feeling "a bit nervous" before the game but was determined to "get some early touches and show what I can do".
Clarke, who turned down a new contract at National League South Eastbourne to sign a two-year deal with Walsall, has already played in a number of positions this season and said he was happy to play "wherever" Sadler wants to put him,
"Wherever the gaffer wants me to play I'll give 100% - I'm just forever grateful considering where I've come from," he added.
"I'm just here to give my all.
"When I come on I just want to give as much energy as I can and try to change games. I've got to keep going and be never too high and never too low."
