Cheltenham Town boss Michael Flynn has praised his players' second-half performance at AFC Wimbledon, calling it the best of the season.

The Robins' 2-1 victory in south-west London ended a run of four league matches without a win and prevented their opponents from entering the automatic promotion places.

"I think so, against a really good Wimbledon team who are going for automatic promotion," 44-year-old Flynn told BBC Radio Gloucestershire, when asked if Tuesday's showing was his side's best this campaign.

"We dug in, we battled, we played the game in the right way away from home - that is a big, big win.

"That second-half was some performance."

Matty Taylor's superb right-footed strike from a tight angle 11 minutes from time meant the visitors went back to Whaddon Road with all three points.

And after the match, the former Bristol Rovers and Bristol City striker gave his take on the winning goal.

"Yeah, I caught it nicely. I was screaming at Ash [Hay] to hold it up, it just opened up," he added.

"I was going to pass to be fair but they backed off so I thought I'd have a go and, thankfully, it went in."
