Huddersfield Town defender Radino Balker has suffered an ankle fracture and will be out for the remainder of 2024.

Balker, 25, sustained the injury in a friendly with Harrogate Town on July 13 and will require surgery.

The Dutchman is expected to make a full recovery.

“This is a difficult moment and an experience no player wishes to have," he said.

"I am hurt that I cannot continue to prepare for the new season with my team after enjoying an exciting start to pre-season together.

“I must now take the time to heal and work with the doctors and medics to ensure I can play again as soon as possible, which I will do with full commitment."

He thanked coaches, team-mates and club staff for their "care and kindness" and told supporters that though not playing, he would be "alongside you supporting the boys whenever possible”.

The Terriers, relegated from the Championship last season, kick off their season against Peterborough on 10 August.
