Guernsey FC Women have been knocked out of the Isthmian League Women's Cup 3-1 on penalties at Carshalton Athletic.

After a goalless first half the islanders went behind midway through the second period after a powerful effort from home captain Georgie Edwards.

But the Green Lionesses equalised eight minutes later when Calleigh Hedley capitalised on a defensive lapse before firing left-footed into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Hedley hit the post with eight minutes to go before Guernsey goalkeeper Kayleigh Marquis pulled off a good save soon after.

With the score at 1-1 after 90 minutes the game went straight to penalties, with Marquis unable to play in the shootout because of an injury.

Guernsey missed three of their first four penalties as Tanya Dady and Abbie Measures and Evie Nebbitt converted their spot-kicks to send the hosts through.
