Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is convinced results will turn around soon after starting the new League One season with four successive defeats.

Posh produced an improved performance against Barnsley on Tuesday, but still lost the game 1-0.

They will now look to turn their form around in another home fixture, against Bradford City, on Saturday.

"Everyone's doom and gloom but we're about eight per cent into a season with a such a long way to go - I'm convinced we can still have a good season, we've just maybe got to suffer a bit in the short term," Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Peterborough finished 18th in 2024-25 after reaching the play-offs in the previous two seasons and their squad has undergone another major summer revamp because of key players leaving.

In the last week alone, they have brought in midfielders Matthew Garbett and Ben Woods and experienced defender Tom Lees, although none of the trio was involved against Barnsley.

Ferguson was encouraged by what he saw from his players after making four changes.

"It's not a good start to the season, obviously, but we'll be fine. We'll come good, I'm convinced of that," said the Scot, who is in his fourth spell in charge.

"We're just due a little break [luck] and have got to keep working hard to make sure we get that."

Another recent signing, Klaidi Lolos from Bolton, played just over an hour on Tuesday but Ferguson felt he looked "a bit rusty".

He added: "He just needs to get up to speed and we've just got to get an understanding of how he plays."
