Coventry City's Jack Rudoni said it is "a joy" to work with head coach Frank Lampard, and has credited the former Chelsea and England midfielder for his outstanding form last season.

Midfielder Rudoni, 24, scored seven goals in the last 12 games of the 2024-25 campaign as the Sky Blues reached the Championships play-offs before losing in the semi-finals to Sunderland, who were promoted.

Rudoni finished with 10 goals and 13 assists in all competitions - form that won him the club's player of the year award.

And he is in little doubt over the impact Chelsea legend Lampard has had on his game. "I'm loving every minute working with the gaffer," Rudoni told BBC CWR.

"Every day in training is enjoyable and I feel like I'm learning every day from him and the other staff.

"There's really no-one better to learn from, and I think you can see how my game has improved since he's come in - numbers-wise and performance-wise - in the second half of the season.

"It's not just me but the whole team, which helps me play better.

"It's been a joy to play under him and the staff, and I look forward to carrying that on."

Rudoni's stock has risen significantly since his move from Huddersfield Town a year ago but he said the changes he has made, with the help of Lampard, have not been that radical.

"It's small tweaks. It was about getting in the right areas - the timing and working on relationships. I never doubted by ability to do that, and it started to really come to life in the second half of the season."

Lampard is overseeing the final preparations for his first full season in charge at Coventry after taking the club from close to the relegation zone when he arrived in November to a fifth-placed finish.

The Sky Blues start the new campaign against Hull City at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 9 August.

In terms of the squad's hopes for the season, Rudoni said they will do everything to replicate how they ended last term.

"We're just going to carry on from from last season and do exactly the same as we finished last season - just try to do better than that.

"The Championship's the Championship - you never know what's going to happen. One minute someone's at the bottom, the next they're in the play-offs.

"Hopefully, we'll be right up there."
