Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says he is frustrated by his side's 3-2 loss at home to Horsham YM in the Southern Combination Premier Division.

With the wind at their backs in the first half, the visitors took the leads as Ousmane Dansoko - who had earlier struck the bar - converted a 17th-minute penalty after Ben Solway had fouled Jesse Sentamu.

Callum Le Lacheur equalised two minutes later before Sentamu put Horsham ahead in the 34th minute after rounding Guernsey goalkeeper Josh Addison.

Noel Fisher made it 3-1 with a close-range finish three minutes before half-time, although Guernsey's record goalscorer Ross Allen cut the gap with a superb free-kick in first-half stoppage time.

With the weather to their advantage in the second half, Guernsey dominated possession and territory, but could not get the breakthrough as Sam Murray and Jacob Fallaize both hit the post.

The loss - Guernsey's fourth of the season - leaves the Green Lions sixth in the division, external as Horsham leapfrog them into fourth place.

"It was a frustrating game, it was tough," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"First half we weren't good at all and we were probably very fortunate to only be 3-2 if I'm honest.

"They were far superior to us in all areas and Ross scored a tremendous free-kick which sort of got us back in it, but we were very lucky it was 3-2, I think that was a positive message at half time.

"Whilst our performance was poor first half, it was difficult conditions out there and I think that had a massive impact on the game. You could see that second half because we pretty much played in their final third for most of the half - they only had a few breakaways like us.

"So the conditions definitely dictated where the ball was, but it was the scrappy ugly bit the game they did better than us."

Meanwhile Guernsey FC's women's side came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at struggling Burlesdon in Southern Region Women's Football League Division One South.

Eleanor Fitzgerald gave the hosts a first-minute lead before Isobel Pouncy doubled the tally from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.

But the league's top scorer, Calleigh Hedley, narrowed the gap midway through the first half as the Guernsey striker got her 16th goal of the season in seven games.

Jess Frampton preserved Guernsey's unbeaten record with a superb long-range strike with 12 minutes to go as the Green Lionesses remain second in the division.
