Barnsley re-sign defender Roberts after Blues exit

Marc Roberts made 186 league appearances in seven seasons with Birmingham City

Barnsley have re-signed defender Marc Roberts on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old was a free agent after being released by Birmingham earlier this summer.

He joined Blues from the Tykes in July 2017, having helped his hometown club win promotion to the Championship in 2015-16.

"It was class the last time I was here. It was the best part of my career really," he told the club website.

Roberts is the second member of Barnsley's promotion-winning side from eight years ago to re-join the League One side this summer after midfielder Conor Hourihane signed a player-coach deal last month.
