Brighton have signed central midfielder Malick Yalcouye from Swedish club IFK Gothenburg.

The 18-year-old has signed a contract with the Seagulls until 2029 and joined for a fee reported, external to be in the region of £6m.

Mali-born Yalcouye, who also holds citizenship for the Ivory Coast, joined Gothenburg last year and made his debut for the Swedish club in February.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said: "He is a talented midfielder with lots of potential to develop into a top-class player.

"He's excited about this next stage of his career and we're looking forward to helping him progress."

Yalcouye is Brighton's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ibrahim Osman, Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer and Amario Cozier-Duberry.
